Pradeep Nepal aka 'Sanjay Thapa', who left a deep mark on many pages of history by becoming an icon of Nepal's left-wing politics, progressive literature and independent thinking. Although he is known as a CPN-UML leader, former minister, standing committee member, his real identity was different.

He was a freelance writer. Intellectual thinker and left wing leader. 

Pradeep Nepal, a much-desired leader and writer, left an indelible mark on Nepali society by creating a triangle of left-wing politics, progressive literature and independent consciousness. That leader is no longer with us. The 71-year-old was struggling with Parkinson's disease for some time. He left us forever on Tuesday.

He repeated his philosophy in death as in life. By expressing a desire for a funeral without garlands, salutes and flags. It was also a continuation of his thoughts and lifestyle to try to leave gracefully, without expecting any state honours. He always preferred the freedom of consciousness over external frills.

In politics, he became a member of the UML standing committee, a minister and an MP. But, basically he was the writer - Sanjay Thapa . Who dug a tunnel of thought from within the walls of power while writing 'in search of the free sky'. His works were documents of thought, rebellion and conscience. He was witness to the courage to question . 

is tough in thought, simple in lifestyle, and fearless in debate. These characteristics made Pradeep Nepal a special personality from an ordinary leader. His words used to hesitate, he dared to speak the truth despite criticism. Now, with his departure, our public life has been deprived of a responsible and sane voice.

Pradeep Nepal has always been within the discipline of thought. However, he was never included in the code of conscienceless silence. He is constantly challenging the tradition of silence without question in the name of party discipline with sharp writings, clear thoughts and critical thinking.

From secularism, federalism, the behavior of leaders to the overall political culture, he did not hesitate to have a different opinion. That opinion was not only limited as a private complaint, it was revealed through public articles and interviews. The ideological honesty made him unique .  which he maintained as long as he lived, and showed it in his parting . 

wrote 51 works under the name of 'Sanjay Thapa'. Which broadened the scope of his literature . On the banks of Deumai, Sumnima of the twenty-first century, to the east, the mother of the party, the mother of the party, the teer of the galaxy, the works like Khuite Kaderia are stuck on progressive values .

He was the kind of leftist who preferred creation over ideas. He had the courage to openly appreciate the writers who were dismissed as bourgeois by the party based on the power of creation. 

like Krishna Dharavasi's 'Jhola' story, which was later made into cinema, he had the courage to praise as 'highly artistic writing' . He believed that true progressiveness is freedom from prejudice. 

'Politics is a coincidence, I am basically a writer, this sentence sums up Pradeep Nepal's entire philosophy of life . Even though he was a minister, he was never infatuated with power. When disillusionment with the party's trends and leadership grew, he did not stop criticizing .  Whether it is KP Sharma Oli, or Madhav Kumar Nepal  Or why not Girija Prasad Koirala. 

Towards the end of his life, as this reflection deepened, his body stopped supporting him. Parkinson's disease slowly stopped his writing. However, it is certain that his expressed ideas, written literature and public thinking will continue to be an inspiration and reference for Nepali society, politics and literature for many more years.
