The government of Oman has granted a three-month amnesty to migrant workers, including those from Nepal, who are visa-free and have lost their legal status. The Ministry of Labor of Oman has given three months to the workers who are living without legal status after their visas have expired to return home without paying a fine.

According to the Nepali Embassy, ​​the prescribed penalty fee has been completely waived for the Nepalese returning home according to this plan.

"As the Oman government has announced that this plan will end on July 31, 2025, we are informed to use the opportunity within time," the statement issued by the embassy said, "Related Nepali citizens staying in Oman are requested to take advantage of this golden opportunity." The embassy has appointed volunteers for this. About 22,000 Nepalis are working in Oman, of which 10,000 are women.

According to the Nepali Embassy, ​​the number of Nepalis without visas has not been determined. Recently, Nepali women workers who arrived in Oman as domestic workers through visit visas have been staying without visas.
