Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel has warned that the ministry will not provide any facilities to private medical colleges that do not provide allowances to resident doctors like the eighth level of the Ministry of Health.
Minister Paudel gave this warning at a press conference held at the ministry on Friday with the medical association about their demands. He said that the meeting of the Medical Education Commission on January 25th had decided to give allowance equal to the 8th level of the Ministry of Health in the form of subsistence allowance to the resident doctors and that decision should be considered mandatory. Minister Paudel warned that if the
decision is not implemented, all relations with the state will be broken and the relations may even be terminated. He also said that the Ministry is positive to arrange 72 hours work week, holiday leave, government holidays.
Minister Paudel said, 'The meeting of the Medical Education Commission on January 25th has decided to give resident doctors a living allowance equal to the eighth level of the Ministry of Health - 48 thousand 737 rupees. This decision must be implemented. Those who disobey now are for now, but cannot be disobeyed forever. If you don't agree, all the relations with the state will be broken, the relationship will be canceled. I don't think you will. It was just an attempt to bring you to the address by saying one or two things. Make your point clear in your own way. Movement is not done by asking anyone. You have no choice but to accomplish this. If the subsistence allowance is not given like the eighth level, no facilities will be given by the Ministry of Health.'
He added, 'The amount given as subsistence allowance is not given out of love or kindness, it is the price of your labor. Must be able to work 72 hours a week. Kiriya should be given leave. It has been said that giving government holidays affects the academy calendar, it should be managed. The ministry is positive about all these.'
Minister Paudel also informed that the decision made by the Medical Education Commission will be fully implemented by the Ministry of Health and that all agencies under the Ministry will be instructed to implement it.
