Expressing grief over the death of a Nepali student at the Kaling Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has said that the police is seriously investigating the incident.
Expressing deep sorrow over the death of a Nepali student at KIIT, the Ministry has expressed its condolences to the bereaved family in this difficult time. In a statement, the Ministry has been in constant contact with the Odisha state government ever since it received information about the
incident. The ministry also said that the Odisha state government is coordinating with the families of the deceased and the police are investigating the incident.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Government of India takes the security, protection and welfare of international students very seriously and is in constant contact with the Nepali authorities, Odisha State Government and management. It has also been mentioned that timely communication and coordination is being done regarding the incident.
18-year-old Prisha Sah, a first-year undergraduate student at KIIT, was found hanging in her dormitory room on Thursday.
