Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Devendra Dahal has said that a long-term plan is being made to improve the road network. He said, 'There will be a leap in infrastructure development within the next 10 years. An additional 20 billion rupees is needed for that.'

On the second day of the Koshi Investment Conference, in a discussion after a 'thematic session' held in Biratnagar, Minister Dahal said that Nepal is in the process of building a prosperous Nepal and clarified that the government has so far carried out important infrastructure works and that further development is possible through investment.

He said that the government's special emphasis is on the development of transport systems such as rail, monorail and podway. "The goal is to electrify the entire transportation system and replace petroleum vehicles by 2030," he said. He said that Nepal is becoming self-sufficient in energy for the first time, calling the energy sector the country's brightest potential. He added, 'Now Nepal has started exporting energy instead of importing it.'

Stating that the government is always ready to create an investment-friendly environment, he urged the private sector and international investors to move forward as development partners. He claims that Nepal has moved on the path of rapid development with plans, policies and clear direction.
