Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has presented Koshi as an investment 'hotspot' while inaugurating the Koshi Province Investment Conference which began on Thursday in the industrial city of Biratnagar.

In a grand program organized at Birendra Auditorium, Prime Minister Oli stated that physical infrastructure, strong road network, legal reform and favorable geopolitical situation are investment-friendly features of Koshi Province and made it clear that there is no excuse for industrial operations. 

Prime Minister Oli mentioned the road network spread throughout the province as a decisive basis for the industrial future of Koshi. He said that with the completion of bridge construction at Kankai and Kamala under Hulaki Highway, the traffic to Chitwan has become easy. "The highway is being constructed in the upper region according to Asian standards, the necessary road infrastructure will be ready by the time the industry is operational," he said.

Emphasizing the possibility of investment-friendly infrastructure, Prime Minister Oli said that it is possible to use waterways through the Koshi and Karnali rivers to import and export goods from the Nepal-India border. Stating that the possibility of operating a watercraft is being studied, he presented this method as an option to make transportation easy, cheap and efficient. Besides, announcing that Biratnagar Airport will be expanded, he claimed that Koshi province will be made a center for domestic and international traffic.  Calling on the investors to proceed confidently, Oli said, "There is no need to be afraid, the transportation route is open and the government will take responsibility for security." He informed that eight laws have been amended through ordinances to remove investment obstacles in the province and said, 'Now there is no need to fear investment, investment will be made completely safe by ending the hassles.' Among which there are 22 tourism projects, 19 infrastructure projects, 11 industry projects, 10 agricultural projects and 4 projects with IT.

Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Authority Dr. Saroj Koirala said that the conference has started to give concrete results and informed that there will be a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on some projects by Friday. According to him, investors from more than 20 countries including India, China, Russia, America, South Korea have participated in the conference, which has highlighted the international reach and potential of Koshi Province. Koirala said, "Foreigners are also excited to invest."
