Talks are being held today between the Minister of Education and the protesting teachers

Talks will be held today between Education Minister Raghuji Pant and representatives of Nepal Teachers' Federation, which has been protesting for 28 days.

It has been said that the discussions held until Monday night were positive and that there could be decisive talks. Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Shivkumar Sapkota, said that he would be in the discussion, but the time was not certain. After the demonstration, the teachers have joined the meeting. Sapkota said that the discussion with the teachers was focused on addressing the demands of the teachers and ending the protest. Nanumaya Parajuli, co-president of the federation, said that the time to go to the Ministry of Education will be decided after the meeting.

On Monday, the leaders of the ruling Congress and UML had a discussion with the officials of the teachers' federation. The leaders responded that the discussion was positive. After the discussion, the Education Minister Pant and the teachers again had a separate discussion.

Discussions are focused on meeting partial demands from the Cabinet, creating a trusting environment for the passage of the School Education Bill and suspending the movement.

Former education minister Vidya Bhattarai proposed that the council of ministers can decide on the 7 points, and some other demands have been added to the teachers' demand. Officials say that if partial demands from the Council of Ministers are fulfilled, the nature of the movement including educational strike can be changed.
