Upendra Mahato, the founding president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, has announced that he will no longer participate in the unity convention of the NRN, which is going to be held on May 3 to 5.
Non-Resident Nepali Association is not only an organization, but also a campaign. Therefore, it is clear that I will not have any involvement and participation in that convention as the convention that is scheduled to be held in May to disturb this campaign cannot be a unity convention,' said the press release issued by Mahato on Monday, 'I sincerely request all friends to give up unnecessary stubbornness to make the non-resident Nepali campaign permanent and create an environment of reconciliation.'
Preparations have been made for the convention. The Supreme Court has ordered a unity convention to be held within 6 months of the first meeting of the high-level committee of NRN. Mahato is a member of the high level committee.
Founder President Mahato said that it is necessary to have a real unity convention in accordance with the Supreme Court's decision. Considering the current situation, I put forward a proposal. According to the constitution of the organization, let's hold a formal, legal and real unity convention in the first week of August 2025 by the representatives of the National Coordinating Council in the coming July,'' the statement said. And, the proposal was necessary to resolve the existing complex situation. Although there is a possibility of a real unity convention according to the decision of the honorable Supreme Court, it was not possible due to the stubbornness and misunderstanding of some people.' According to the committee, 3,000 delegates have been selected from around the world for the convention. NRN president Badri Keshi party is not participating in this convention.
