Orthopedic specialist Dr. Govind KC has operated and treated the injured in the city of Mandalay, which was damaged by the devastating earthquake of 7.7 magnitude that occurred in Myanmar on March 28.
Due to the earthquake, a large amount of property was lost, mainly in Sagain and Mandalay provinces and the capital of Myanmar, Naypyitaw. Myanmar's military government announced that the number of dead was about 4,000, while according to various non-governmental sources, the number of dead and unaccounted for is 6,000. According to Myanmar's Democratic Voice, the number of injured is 11,000.
One of the most damaged cities is Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar. Dr. KC volunteered to take 16 services at Mandle Orthopedic (Horpedic) Hospital and Mandle General Hospital and participated in surgery and other types of treatment for the injured. During that period, he has trained ward rounds and OPD and essential services and postgraduate and undergraduate medical students.
In 2008, when the sea storm Nargis hit Myanmar and caused great loss of wealth, Dr. KC went to Myanmar for the first time and served. Despite the tireless efforts of the Nepali ambassadors and influential Burmese doctors, he provided the necessary treatment to the wounded without obtaining official permission.
