The Buddhist Gurung community living in about a dozen countries including Nepal, India, Bhutan, America, Britain, Australia will participate.
The first convention and international conference of the International Gurung Wisdom Council, a global organization of the Buddhist Gurung community, will be held in Kathmandu on the second week of October.
The council held a press conference at the meeting hall of Tamu Buddhist Seva Samiti Nepal in Anamgarh on Friday and informed that the convention and conference will be held on October 9 and 10 (25 and 26 September 2025). Dr. Kumar Gurung, President of the International Gurung Wisdom Council, informed that a detailed discussion and suggestion gathering program is going to be held in Kathmandu, Jhapa and Pokhara for the preparation of the conference. According to him, an international conference is going to be held to issue a guide called 'Gurung Buddhijam Pekshya' after a detailed discussion about Gurung Buddhijam, its concept and its adoption.
President Gurung, mentioning that the organization has been expanded to international level since he became the president, stated that the purpose of the organization is to bring the diversity of language, religion, culture and culture in the Gurung community into harmony.
Dhruv Bahadur Gurung, International Vice President and President of National Gurung Buddhijam Parishad, Nepal, in preparation for the international conference, Tamu Buddhist Service Committee in Kathmandu on 13 May 2082, Buddhist Arghou Sadan in Pokhara on 15 May, Pardi in Pokhara on 16 May. Tamu Samaj and on May 20 at Gurung Gumba in Maidhar, Jhapa, discussion and suggestion gathering program about Buddhism and Gurung Sanskar culture will be organized. He said that about 500 people will participate in the convention. In the
conference, the Buddhist Gurung community living in about a dozen countries including Nepal, India, Bhutan, America, Britain, Australia will participate. Similarly, there is a preparation to hold discussions in various places in India in the presence of representatives of Nepal, India, Bhutan and America. The council has said that the interaction will be held in Siliguri, India on May 17, Rinchen Choiling Monastery in Meghidanda, Sikkim on May 18, Gangtok on May 19 and Yang-Yang on May 20. After that, it is said that discussions will be held in Darjeeling and Kharsang in India.
Parishad has defined Buddhism practiced by the Gurung community since ancient times as 'Gurung Buddhism'. The members of the community born in the Gurung clan have been performing traditional rituals through Buddhist lamas in various festivals and rituals. The statement said, "Those practitioners are known as 'Gurung Buddhists' and such practices as 'Gurung Buddhism'."
