Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) has expressed his best wishes on the occasion of Democracy Day. On the occasion of Democracy Day on Baisakh 10, Mayor Shah expressed his best wishes through his social network Facebook to celebrate as a corruption-free society.

Its context is connected with the construction of Kathmandu Tower, which is now controversial. Saroj Guragai, Chief Administrative Officer of Kathmandu Metropolis, has been accused of passing the map of Kathmandu Tower without completing the process within two days of his appearance in the metropolis.

Mayor Shah has stated through his status that there are many issues behind this, not just the Kathmandu Tower map pass. Shah alleges that there is political corruption in the construction of the tower saying that Kathmandu metropolis is a big investor in the construction of the tower and it will cause a loss of one billion rupees to the metropolis.

'How political corruption happens for a scam, how employees are mobilized and how people's representatives are also affected by this map shows the past, present and purpose of the pass,' Shah wrote, 'When the then metropolitan leadership approved up to 12 floors in 2073, the annual rate of 98,33,333 rupees up to the fourth year and 1,43,70,833 in the fifth year and 3,90,14,663 in the 30th year An agreement was made to get Rs. Which was up to 12 floors with 2 floors of parking.'

He has questioned how the economy received by the metropolis from the commercial complex in the heart of Kathmandu has become so low. Mayor Shah has also expressed his commitment to help the related agencies to study it.

'When 12 floors are made into 19 floors, the area of 7 floors to be added is about 1 lakh 28 thousand square feet . If we calculate at the rate of 150 rupees per square foot, then the minimum rent from 7 floors comes to 19.2 million rupees, which is 23 million rupees annually. It is more than rupees," Mayor Shah writes, "Think about how much it will cost in the next 30 years. A 10 percent rent increase in 2 years is common . Only then, in 30 years, per square foot will be above 670 rupees . Of this, more than one billion rupees should come from the rent of the 7th floor. Shah also said that if this map is passed, the metropolis will receive 30 million rupees according to the agreement at that time.'

This will cause financial loss to the metropolis, it will benefit the contractor, and in order to coordinate all these politically and get billions of benefits from it, Shah has also said that there is no financial loss for the contractor to give 50 million rupees.

Map of the 12-storey building of Kathmandu Tower Mayor Shah has stated that he has no objection to make 19 floors, but many things have been neglected in the construction of the said building, illegal work has been done and there are also risks.

"Even if everything is in accordance with the standards of building construction and the construction code of the Government of Nepal, it is legally possible to increase the 12 floors to 19 floors," he said, "for that, the contract should be reviewed." The contract amount should be adjusted after financial analysis. Environmental impact, social and economic impact should be evaluated. All this was being done through Public Private Partnership Board (PPE). Ignoring all those things, the map was passed illegally.'

Similarly, he has questioned the government to be accountable for the fact that the construction of the tower has been approved by the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority, but planning permission has not been granted to go from 12 floors to 19 floors.
