The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has requested to exercise vigilance as the temperature has risen in Terai district for the past few days.
With the temperature exceeding 40 degree Celsius in Lumbini and Terai districts of Sudurpaschim Province, the authority and Department of Water and Meteorology, Weather Forecasting Division have asked to be cautious.
'The temperature is rising all over the country. The temperature is around 38 degrees Celsius in the western part of Madhesh province, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Far West Terai,' said meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane of the Weather Forecast Division.
'According to the weather forecast on May 10 and 11, there is no active monsoon system, only partial effect of western wind and local wind is seen, so the temperature will remain the same and it is likely to increase further,' he said.
He has asked to take necessary precautions as the water will decrease for some time and there may be a possibility of a heat wave.
Likewise, the authority has also requested not to go out during the afternoon, not to eat food that increases heat, stay in a cool place and wear thin clothes when going out to avoid heat and hot sun.
