Mahesh Bertaula, the chief whip of the UML, which is leading the government, has demanded the accountability of the teachers who started the agitation regarding public education.
After the discussion with Speaker Devraj Ghimire on Wednesday, Chief Whip Bertaula demanded the accountability of teachers regarding public education.
Bertaula said that it is not right for teachers to protest when the Parliament is advancing the school education bill. He also said that the just demands raised by the teachers will be met. What is the accountability of teachers towards public education? Let them know for themselves. Think that they should be held accountable for that, but the government fulfills their just demands,' said Bertaula.
Bertaula also said that teachers should take the initiative of the government positively.
'We are working to convince the teachers and respect their feelings. They also need to accept the things we are working on in a positive manner and If we look at it from that basis, they should join the regular educational activities and give time to complete the current legislative work which is necessary for the preparation of the bill,' he said, 'It is our public appeal that they join the regular work and educational activities in a positive way.'
