All the recommended DIGs are seniority and ranking officers. Among them, Khapung and Acharya were promoted to DIG last year in one lot and the other 4 in the second lot.
After Inspector General of Police Basant Kunwar retired, AIG Deepak Thapa was promoted to Inspector General. 6 AIG posts were vacant in the police after the officers who joined the service together with Kunwar retired due to 30 years of service.
The promotion committee has recommended the promotion of 6 DIGs to the same vacant post. In the AIG competition, there were also officers who were transferred to the police service after entering the service from the National Investigation Department in 053.
Siddhivikram Shah, Sushil Singh Rathore, Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, Himalaya Kumar Shrestha and Dambar Bahadur Bick who were DIG last November were also in the AIG competition. However, the government has recommended promotion only to the DIGs who are ahead in the order of seniority and ranking.
