A meeting of the high-level political machinery comprising the top leaders of the ruling Congress and the UML is being held. In the meeting of the mechanism that started on Wednesday evening at the Prime Minister's Residence Baluwatar, the doubts between the two parties regarding the running of the government are being discussed.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, UML Senior Vice President Ishwar Pokharel, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel and Deputy Secretary General and Prime Minister's Chief Political Advisor Bishnu Rimal are participating.
Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, Minister of Home Affairs Ramesh Ulak, Minister of Foreign Affairs Arju Rana Deuba are participating on behalf of the ruling Congress. Congress General Minister Gagan Thapa, a member of the committee, did not participate in the meeting. Recently, he has been publicly expressing his displeasure with the administration of the government. He publicly criticized the Prime Minister and the Minister saying that one thing was discussed in the meeting of the
mechanism, but a different decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting. He objected saying that they are active in helping the government for good work but the prime minister is not acting accordingly.
Prime Minister Oli has convened a meeting of the two party mechanisms after a long gap between the Congress and the UML. The last meeting of the UML secretariat decided to discuss the suspicions with the Congress within the mechanism and gave the responsibility to the Prime Minister who is also the party president.
