Maoist's attention to the Prime Minister to make the 'Sagarmata Dialogue' all-sided

The main opposition Maoist has drawn the attention of the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to make the 'Sagarmata Dialogue' which is going to be held for the discussion on climate change inclusive and all-sided.

Maoist's Forest, Environment and Climate Division submitted a letter to Prime Minister Oli on Wednesday regarding the Everest dialogue. In the letter submitted by the head of the department, Madhav Sapkota to the Prime Minister, it is mentioned that the party is seriously concerned that the preparations for the dialogue have been carried forward without including the important contributions made in the field of climate diplomacy and Himalayan protection in the past.

The Maoists drew the attention of the Prime Minister saying that the participation and initiative of all parties is inevitable on climate change. "Participation and initiatives of all parties are indispensable to face a global and multifaceted challenge like climate change." But it is ironic that only the government and people close to the government are participating in the preparation process of the Everest dialogue,' said the Maoist, 'This dialogue should not be limited to the program of the ruling party but should be established as a common platform for all political parties, private sector, civil society, expert community and the common people . This alone ensures credibility, effectiveness and national ownership of dialogue.' Maoists have drawn the government's attention to make the

dialogue a dialogue of national pride through an inclusive structure and a participatory process. The Maoists have demanded that the dialogue be carried forward through the process of transparent and national consensus. The issue of climate justice and mountain protection is a sensitive issue of international diplomacy. The concept, agenda and approach presented by Nepal to the invited guests from different countries should reflect national unity and credibility,' said the Maoist, 'for this, it is necessary to have a thorough discussion, consultation and consensus with all political parties, experts, civil society and stakeholders . Only a concept prepared through a transparent and inclusive process can present the subject of Nepal in an effective and integrated manner.'

The Maoist also reminded the Prime Minister that Nepal has been continuously raising its voice on national and international platforms for a long time on the issues of mountains, climate change and climate justice. The Maoists also say that the initiatives taken since the meeting of the Council of Ministers in December 2009 at Kalapathar, the base camp of Everest, are remarkable.
