Water Minister Pradeep Yadav has said that 81 big projects are going ahead across the country. He informed that the Ministry of Water Resources is moving forward by ensuring the protection of water sources, clean sewage management and easy sanitation services for all citizens.

Minister Yadav gave this information in the discussion and interaction held on Tuesday on the progress and action plan of 2081/82 organized by the Water and Sewerage Management Department, the plan for the next financial year and the future strategy according to the newly approved organizational structure of the department. "Until today, 12 major projects have been completed across the country and more than 2 million citizens have directly benefited from safe drinking water services," Minister Yadav said.

Minister Yadav also informed that the implementation of the Nepal Water Supply Institute Staff Service Conditions Regulations, which had been stalled for seven years, has been implemented. He said that the implementation of the regulations is an important step for improving the morale of the employees along with policy achievements. 

Minister Yadav also said that the government has taken concrete and visionary initiatives in the direction of ensuring access to free drinking water for the citizens of the poor, disadvantaged and remote areas of the country. He also said that under the Melamchi drinking water project, technical infrastructure has been established to deliver water regularly to homes.

He also said that significant progress has been made in the direction of international cooperation for long-term drinking water and the foundation of a new era is being built by ensuring the protection of sustainable water resources, clean sewage management and accessible sanitation services. "Through the agreement with the Government of India, ISIMOD, JICA, and the strong partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), we have succeeded in bringing Nepal's water to the center of world thought," he said.
