UML has decided to honor 7 people who contributed to the communist movement as 'communist warriors' on the party's founding day.  Party Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali said that this decision was taken at the secretariat meeting held at the party central office on Monday.

According to Deputy General Secretary Gyawali, those who will be honored on the party foundation day on 9th Baisakh are Lal Bahadur Vishwakarma (Kanchanpur), late Ratna Sharma Neupane (Jajarkot), Shobharam Basnet (Dang), Basaswati Devkota (Gorkha), Shanta Manvi (Kathmandu), Satyanarayan Mandal (Saptari) and Haricharan Shivakoti (Jhapa).

Similarly, the party has decided to celebrate Baisakh 11th as the Republic Day. Gyawali informed that a grand program will be organized as a celebration on that day as it is the day on which the republic was formally planted after throwing down the autocratic monarchy.

He said, 'The day the people won on the 11th of Baisakh is the day on which the republic was formally planted after throwing down the autocratic monarchy. We are organizing a grand program in Kathmandu to celebrate that day as a celebration and to tell the importance of democracy and freedom to today's generation, to tell the importance of the republic. We have consulted about that too.'
