Member of the House of Representatives and former Minister of Communications Gokul Baskota has said that the chapter of monarchy in Nepal has been closed 18 years ago. On Monday, MP Baskota said this while addressing the New Year 2082 greetings exchange program organized by Press Chautari Nepal at Banepa in Kavre.

Giving his best wishes, he said, "Monarchy in Nepal is now history, not the future." He said that the chapter of monarchy in Nepal has been closed 18 years before today. He also said that the page of history will not be turned back.

"Nepal is determined to take its weaknesses and its strengths on the highway in a more orderly, reformed and determined way to advance Nepali society on the road to democracy," he said. He said that all the people of republican Nepal will never forgive. He said that he is confident that the Nepali press has also seriously accepted the fact that only in a democracy, the life of journalism can be free, meaningful and ensure its future.
