An all-party meeting was held on Sunday morning to defuse the ongoing tension in Birganj. The meeting has demanded strict legal action against whoever is involved in causing controversy during the march taken out to celebrate Shobha Yatra on Saturday.

In addition, the meeting also appealed to the general public to maintain social harmony. Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal, Nepal Police Parsa Chief SP Gautam Mishra, Armed Police Parsa Chief SP Radheshyam Dhimal, Sri Sri Jang Gana of Birganj of Nepal Army and district chiefs and representatives of various parties made this appeal by declaring their commitment to 3 points.  In the

commitment, all the general public have been appealed to maintain social harmony with the commitment that no organization or community will hold any kind of religious and community rally, bandh, etc. programs and activities that disturb peace.

Similarly, the meeting also demanded that the government should provide treatment to the security personnel, media personnel and ordinary citizens who were injured during the controversy that arose during the Hanuman Jayanti procession on Saturday.  Congress Acting District President Ram Narayan Kurmi, UML District President Vishwambhar Sharma, Maoist District President Vijay Mahato, Jaspa Nepal District President Ramnaresh Yadav, Jaspa Tawarez Ahmed, Aam Janata Party District President Bhola Patel, Janmat Party District President Omprakash Sarraf and others participated in the meeting. Deepak Patel, Abhishek Tiwari and others participated on behalf of the organizers of the procession.
