The all-party all-party meeting held at the district administration office on Sunday evening decided on five points to defuse the ongoing tension in Birgunj. In the said decision, it is mentioned that the culprits involved in the incident will be thoroughly investigated and legal action will be taken.
It has also been agreed that all parties will be fully committed to maintaining inter-religious harmony and tolerance. It has also been decided that all parties will cooperate in the process of legal action.
Similarly, the meeting also decided to arrange free treatment for the injured and to take initiatives by the administration to compensate for the damage caused in the incident. It has also been decided not to display weapons in any procession, festival or event held by religious and cultural sects.
It has been decided to closely monitor all the religious organizations and the schools/madrasas etc. run by those organizations and bring them under the scope of action if found otherwise. Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal, SP Gautam Mishra, Parsa Chief of Nepal Police, SP Radheshyam Dhimal, Parsa Chief of Armed Police, Dilip Singh, Superintendent of Police of National Investigation Department Parsa, Colonel Nirajan Katuwal, Chief of Nepal Army's Sri Sri Jang Gana in Birganj and others participated in the
meeting.
Similarly, Congress Acting District President Ram Narayan Kurmi, UML District President Vishwambhar Sharma, Maoist District President Bijay Mahato, Jaspa Nepal District President Ramnaresh Yadav, Jaspa Tawarez Ahmed, Aam Janata Party District President Bhola Patel, Janmat Party District President Omprakash Sarraf and others participated in the meeting. Ranjit Sah, Deepak Patel, Abhishek Tiwari and others participated on behalf of the procession organizers.
Earlier, the all-party meeting held on Sunday morning and the meeting including the district heads and representatives of various parties had expressed commitment to 3 points and appealed to maintain harmony. The
meeting demanded strict legal action against whoever was involved in creating controversy during the procession on Saturday. Also, the meeting appealed to the general public to maintain social harmony. It has been appealed to the general public to maintain social harmony with the commitment that no organizations and communities will hold religious and community-type rallies, bandhs, etc. programs and activities that disturb peace, indiscriminately.
Similarly, the meeting also demanded that the government should provide treatment to the security personnel, media personnel and common citizens who were injured during the controversy during the Hanuman Jayanti procession on Saturday.
