The traffic has been blocked after the diversion was carried out in Dumkiwas of East Nawalparasi under the East-West Highway. Even though the repair work is being done by stopping the traffic from 11 am in the morning, even the emergency vehicles are not able to operate due to the breakdown of the diversion.
A diversion was constructed after the bridge on Vinayi River collapsed due to the collision of an overloaded vehicle on the 26th of January. Bhavishwar Pandey, Chief District Officer of East Nawalparasi, said that the diversion was carried out after the river flooded due to rain and the diversion was made as soon as the water flow subsided. As the construction of diversion will start after the flow of water in the river decreases, it is not possible to operate vehicles immediately. The road department and administration have requested to travel on the Butwal Narayangadh road section only after understanding the road conditions and to use alternative routes. Due to the rain since morning, only one-way traffic was operating in Daunne. Freight vehicles have been stopped at Bardghat in the west and Chor Mara and Arun Khola in the east.
