Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh has said that it is time to think sensitively about protecting the rights gained through the sacrifices and struggles of thousands. Addressing the New Year's greetings exchange program organized by organizations including the Democratic Newa in Kirtipur, Minister Singh said that today's freedom and rights are not that much.
"We should not try to enjoy the rights only. Remembering that rights and duties are two sides of the same coin, Minister Singh said, 'whether or not the rights we have got will be protected depends on our behavior.' He said that some people who do not understand the importance of
rights are now questioning the system itself. Deputy Prime Minister Singh said that those who suffer and understand the pain of deprivation of rights know that they cannot even imagine going back to the old system. He emphasized that the disappointment in the people should be overcome with good deeds and behavior.
