Minister of Home Affairs Ramesh Akhtar has said that the incident that took place in Kathmandu on March 15th was a criminal and subversive act.
Speaking at the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives on Friday, the minister said this.
Mentioning that the government has drawn serious attention to the incident that took place in Three Corners, he also said that he is careful to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. He insisted that since the three-cornered incident is a criminal and destructive incident, it will be investigated through the criminal legal process. The parliamentarians demanded the formation of a commission of inquiry to investigate the truth of the incident.
The Home Minister said that the government's regular criminal justice system will investigate the incident impartially without any request or bias. He also said that the process of arresting those involved in looting, arson and looting of public property has not stopped yet. He also informed the committee that Durga Prasain, the commander of the three-cornered protest, has been arrested.
He said that it is in no way appropriate to set fire to the democratic system and search for autocracy. He also mentioned that the constitution gave everyone the right to go to the people and be elected. He said, "I don't think it is right that we should use any language and any words to advance the search for autocracy by setting fire to the democratic system." Let's go to the people and say what we have to say. We have gone to the public in five years. We are people elected by the people. Going back to 084 . The time will come when the people send it. It will not come when it has not been sent.'
He said that the work of giving relief of 10/10 lakh rupees to the families of those who died in the three-cornered incident has already started. He said that the government will provide free treatment to those injured in the incident. In the meeting, the MPs are of the opinion that the former king Gyanendra Shah should be made responsible for the incident.
