Senior advocate Vijay Prasad Mishra has won the presidency of Nepal Bar Association, the umbrella organization of legal professionals.

Mishra was elected as the President of the Bar by getting 5 thousand 52 votes. His rival Senior Advocate Raman Kumar Shrestha got 2,621 votes.

Nepal Bar ruling UML and legal professionals organization close to Congress put forward Mishra as the president .

Opposition Maoists and organizations of lawyers including RSWP formed a panel under the leadership of Shrestha. Mishra's panel has been victorious in the Central Committee of the Bar.

Mishra, who was elected as the president, has said that he will implement the agenda put forward in the election. He said, 'I have to do a lot of work at the Nepal Bar. Our team will have to show it by doing and not by talking.

Padam Prasad Limbu from Kosi, Ajay Shankar Jha from Madhes, Tej Bahadur Rawal from Bagmati, Bhupendra Khanal from Gandaki, Krishna Prasad Pokhrel from Lumbini, Vivash Kumar Basnet from Karnali and Siddraj Ojha from Far West have been elected as Vice Presidents of Nepal Bar. 

Kedar Prasad Koirala, Senior Advocate of Mishra Panel, has been elected as the General Secretary. Senior advocate Jagat Bahadur Karki was elected as treasurer.
