Due to the bad weather, the hunters who came to Dhorpatan to hunt have been stopped for a week as the helicopter did not fly. In Seng and Dhustung of Dhorpatan, 2 poachers have been stopped for a week, while other 7 poachers are also in the block. Those blocks are a 3 to 5 day walk from the reservation office in Dhorpatan.
The hunters stay and hunt for two to three weeks after reaching the designated block by helicopter . Deepak Thapa, owner of Himalayan Wildlife Outfitters Pvt. Ltd. said that one American and one Spanish hunter who had worked in the Seng block did not return.
They finished working in Seng Block on 21st March. They stopped after walking for 3 days from Seng to Dhustung Block. As the way to reach Dhorpatan on foot is difficult, they are staying in a camp. "It's been four days since we called the helicopter, it hasn't come because the weather is bad," Thapa said, "It will be difficult if we have to stay for many days."
Many flights in the country have been stopped due to lack of visibility. Chief conservation officer of the reserve, Chandrasekhar Chaudhary, said that the helicopter may not have flown here for the same reason. He informed that he did not know about the helicopter because the related company will do the work of bringing the helicopter.
Even in the block of Dhorpatan, the weather is bad from time to time . Thapa complained that there was a delay in trying to send the hunters to a safe place as soon as it rains, as there may be snowfall. "One person had a ticket to return on Thursday, now there is no option to cancel it," he said, "hunters who walked according to the schedule are offering namaz." He said that 2 people were stranded in Dhustung but 7 others have not informed yet.
As the second season of the current year, the hunters tendered for 35 animals including 13 naur, 10 jharal and 12 wild boar in the month of March. Subedi informed that only 14 people entered after 1 hunter did not come out of the tenders. He said that he only got preliminary information saying that detailed information will come only after everyone returns.
In Dhorpatan, which has 7 blocks, hunting is opened through global tender for Naur and Jharal. Those hunters came for hunting after paying the specified fee in the tender that was opened on January 15th. This year, tenders were made for Rs 8 lakh for Naur and Rs 6 lakh for Jharal.
6 companies including Himalayan Wildlife Outfitters, Himalayan Safaris, Global Safaris, Tracks and Trails, Nepal Travel Expeditions, Open Nepal Wildlife Safaris got permission for hunting.
This time, the oldest, 70-year-old Marcos Olajola Alcorta from Spain has also come to hunt. According to Aarksh, 1 crore 26 lakh revenue has been collected for the second season . As the first season, Sikar opens in October and as the second season it opens in February.
