Nepal Bar Election: Mishra leading by double votes

Senior advocate Vijay Prasad Mishra is leading by almost double the number of votes in the post of president of Nepal Bar Association. As part of the election for the 27th central working committee of the association, Mishra maintained his lead even on the third day of counting.

According to the latest results, Mishra has secured the lead by getting 4,272 votes. His closest competitor, senior advocate Raman Kumar Shrestha, has received 1,843 votes, according to the vote count update.  

Candidates for other positions, including the chairman, from the broad democratic, progressive, professional, nationalistic and inclusive group of legal professionals are still ahead. Elections were held on Saturday to select the new leadership of the

bar. Out of 9,957 voters, 80 percent votes were cast in the election. Voting was done in 36 polling stations in Kathmandu and outside. 

Senior advocate Mishra from broad democratic, progressive, professional, nationalist and inclusive lawyers group and senior advocate Shrestha from professional lawyers group are competing for the new leadership.

In Mishra's group, senior advocate Kedar Prasad Koirala is the general secretary, while in Shrestha's group, advocate Yagya Mani Neupane is a candidate for the post of general secretary.

Counting continues on the third day at 8 am.
