The counting of votes for the 27th Central Working Committee of Nepal Bar Association, the umbrella organization of legal professionals, has started on Saturday. Ballot boxes were brought from all over the country and the counting of votes started at the central office of the association at Ramshahpath from 1 o'clock.

Elections were held on Saturday for the selection of new leadership. 80 percent of the 9,957 voters voted to elect a new working committee of the bar.

Voting was done in a total of 36 polling stations in and outside Kathmandu. Senior advocate Vijay Prasad Mishra from broad democratic, progressive, professional, nationalist and inclusive legal practitioner group and senior advocate Raman Kumar Shrestha from professional legal practitioner group are competing for the new leadership of the bar.

In the group of senior advocate Mishra, senior advocate Kedar Prasad Koirala is the general secretary, while in the group of senior advocate Shrestha, advocate Yagyamani Neupane is the candidate for the post of general secretary.
