190 workers working in Sagarnath Forest Development Project, Sarlahi have come to Kathmandu to express their grievances after not getting their salary for 11 months.

Santosh Shah Teli, president of the Forest Development Project Labor Union, said that he had come to Kathmandu to draw attention to the fact that the daily wage workers had not received their wages for a long time.

They issued a statement on Sunday (Chait 24) and drew the attention of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Forestry and Environment. 8/9 of the workers are women. About 60 million rupees have yet to be paid to the wage workers,' he said.

They have demanded immediate availability of salary and allowances from the government . Also, Sagarnath Forest Development Project has been contributing to revenue collection, environmental balance and local employment creation through tree planting and forest management for four decades, but it has appeared in serious problems due to the neglect and delay in policy decisions by central agencies including the Forest Product Development Committee and the Ministry of Forest and Environment.

Since 17 August 2081, the position of the Executive Chairman of the Forest Production Development Committee has been vacant and policy decisions have not been made. It is mentioned in the statement that the annual program proposed by Sagarnath Forest Project for the financial year 2081/82 was not accepted.

"If more than 50,000 cubic feet of wood (teak type pellets, bali) are reduced and sent from the project without a decision, the forest production will be destroyed if there is no decision," the statement said, "The forest guards who have set up camps for forest protection and are assigned to the patrol team are in an uncomfortable situation to work without getting the minimum equipment and materials."

Shah has said that the forest development action plan should be approved immediately, the proposal to reduce the price for the sale of existing timber should be approved immediately, and the vacant posts should be filled immediately. .
