Oli returned from Thailand, Modi will not come to Everest dialogue

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has returned home after participating in an official visit to Thailand and the BIMSTEC Summit. At a press conference held at Tribhuvan International Airport after landing in Kathmandu on Saturday, Oli said that the visit was successful.

He also said that the 'sideline' meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also fruitful.

He informed that Modi will not come to the Everest dialogue program to be organized by Nepal government from May 2-4 in Kathmandu. The Government of Nepal had sent an invitation to Modi to participate in the dialogue as a special guest.

In the 'sideline' meeting with Prime Minister Oli, Modi expressed his inability to come to dialogue. In the previous term, Oli had prepared to organize the Everest dialogue program. However, it was postponed due to covid. This time he has increased it again. The government is preparing to hold an international level dialogue program by inviting experts and researchers along with heads of state and governments of different countries.

India's Prime Minister Modi was expected to attend the program. However, in the meeting with Oli in Thailand, Modi informed that he will not be able to come to Kathmandu as his European tour is already scheduled on the scheduled date of the Everest dialogue program.

Modi ji is not going to come to the Everest dialogue this time. At that time, his program to go to Europe had already been decided," Prime Minister Oli said at the airport after landing in Kathmandu, "His program has been settled there. There is no way to change it. Therefore he cannot come. However, India is represented at a good level.'

Oli and Modi had a one-on-one meeting in Thailand on Friday. Oli called the meeting fruitful. The meeting took place in a very harmonious and good atmosphere. It was done with sincerity," he said, "it was fruitful. i am happy I have found that Modi ji is also happy with the conversation. He stated that there are many issues related to investment, trade, Pancheshwar project and irrigation from Mahakali in Dodhara Chandni.

Regarding when the visit to India will take place, he has said that it will be at the time and time he said. Is it impossible to visit India? Due to some reasons, it is an unsustainable situation. What happens when? when what It is only because of that," he said. Is there barbed wire? Not so. It happens when you understand it properly.'

In the past, it was a practice to visit India within a few months of becoming the Prime Minister. However, the fact that Oli's visit to India has not been scheduled even after 8 months of becoming the Prime Minister has been commented on as his relationship with India is not good. Oli said, "We are a bit busy. Everest dialogue and other topics. Therefore, if we say we are afraid, it may be.'

After Oli became Prime Minister, his second meeting with Modi took place. However, both meetings took place in third countries. Earlier, a meeting was held in New York last October. He has complained that the meeting at that time was called bad. We met in September. It's not as bad as you say. Nothing like that. What is bad? Had a friendly conversation. "It was good," he said, "this time, there has been a more friendly conversation."

65 years after the establishment of diplomatic relations, it is the first time that the Prime Minister of Nepal has made an official visit to Thailand. During that time, Oli had a meeting with Thai Prime Minister Paitong Tarn Shinawatra and discussed issues of bilateral mutual interest.

Prime Minister Oli informed that Nepal and Thailand have discussed cooperation and cooperation in various aspects of bilateral relations including trade and investment, agriculture, tourism and culture, education and human resource development.

He mentioned that the Thai Prime Minister has promised that Nepal will get the maximum support from the Thai government in achieving the national ambition of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepal'. Oli also addressed the sixth BIMSTEC summit on March 22. In his address, Oli has also invited the counterparts of the BIMSTEC countries to participate in the Everest dialogue program.

During the summit, Oli, apart from Indian Prime Minister Modi, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarsurya also had separate meetings with the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Chiring Tobge and the Prime Minister of Myanmar, Min Aung Lhang. Overall, the official visit to Thailand and participation in the summit of BIMSTEC was very successful and meaningful, Prime Minister Oli said.
