The Citizens First Campaign has concluded that both the royalist and the government are responsible for the incident that took place in Chaitra 15 Tinkune. In a press statement released on Thursday by Prashant Singh, the spokesperson of the campaign, strongly criticizing the political instability and depressing national environment in Nepal, a fair judicial investigation of the violence, vandalism, arson and looting in the royalist demonstration in the Three Corners area has been demanded.
The statement expressed concern over the political crisis and confusion caused by the inaction of the Congress-UML coalition government and the behavior of the ruling and opposition parties. Also, everyone has been asked to play a responsible role in making the life of the citizens comfortable and prosperous, saying that the alleged royalist demonstrations on the streets are complicated and have a negative impact on the lives of the citizens. The
press statement said, 'The untimely death of innocent civilians like Savin Maharjan and journalist Suresh Rajak during the protest shows the result of the irresponsible confrontation between the state and the protestors. We pay our respects to the deceased and express our condolences to the bereaved families, and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.' It is said in the
statement, 'Where did the government and the protestors go wrong and who is to blame? It is the right of common citizens to find answers to these questions. Therefore, we demand that a judicial commission be formed to conduct a fair, independent and impartial investigation into the overall situation. According to the report of the commission, appropriate action should be taken against the culprits and civil damages should be compensated. Henceforth, there should be no attempt to stifle democracy and civil rights.' The
campaign calls on all citizens to raise their voices in favor of democracy and the need for advanced democracy and breaking the cycle of status quo and regression. It is said in the
statement, 'Therefore, strengthening, deepening and expanding democracy by breaking the cycle of status quo and regression has become the main goal and responsibility of every citizen today. In this sense, we sovereign citizens need to get rid of the confusion of both 'regressive' and 'status quo' and move forward and unite in the third option of 'progressive reform' and 'advanced democracy'. For this, we sincerely appeal to all of us to be active from our respective places for the initiative and cooperation of the broad civil movement. .'
