After it was revealed that the foreign currency worth 250 million euros and dollars, which was going to be illegally sent to China through the Kerung crossing in Rasuwa, belongs to Narayan Poudel of Sindhupalchok, the owner of Sindhupalchok, interest has been raised about his background.

Paudel's permanent home is Bhotekoshi rural municipality-4 of Sindhupalchok. Now living in Tokha Municipality-10 Mahadeotar, he is a person who has been involved in illegal gold smuggling and hundi since Rakchandan.

The Revenue Investigation Department has made a preliminary conclusion that Paudel is the main owner of the money based on the details obtained from the driver Lama's mobile phone, the location of the vehicle and information obtained from other sources. Director General of Rajshwa, Chandi Prasad Ghimire said, "An arrest warrant has already been issued by the court to arrest Poudela on Sunday."

Locals who know Narayan from Jhirpu village on Kodari highway say that he has been in the transport business since 2050 and while doing this work, he is involved in smuggling. From Narayan's Jhirpu village, the Tatopani crossing that enters China is around 12 km. Locals say that because he has a house on the edge of the border, it is easy for him to start working across the border, and when he starts doing this work, he goes into illegal business. 

Narayan's name has been found involved in blood sandalwood, hundi and gold smuggling many times before. Sailo Narayan is not the only one of the four brothers, his younger brother Rajkumar Paudel was also involved in gold smuggling earlier. In the year 2074, Rajkumar was elected as the head of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality from the Maoists in the local level elections. Even in the year 2079, he became a candidate from the Maoist party but was defeated. According to Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) sources, Rajkumar was involved in smuggling 15 kg of illegal gold. The prince was engrossed in the gold recovered from a house on the way to Grandi Hospital from Samakhushi. 

Narayan's elder brother Dhruv was elected as the village president in 2054. His brother Bachu Paudel was the former president of the Himalayan Trade Association and now he is involved in the hydro business. In this way, Narayan's entire family seems to be politically and financially strong. A local who knows Narayan said, "This family's relationship with illegal business is not new." In the first week of June 2080, Poudel was also arrested from Maharajganj Police Circle for gambling.  

A businessman from Sindhupalchok, who knows all of Narayan's brothers, expressed his suspicion that most of the money could belong to Narayan alone. He said, 'Narayan is a person who works as a middleman in illegal business that makes a lot of profit. It may be the same in this case.''A police officer involved in the investigation of this incident says that Narayan may have worked for someone else and may have worked with a small share from collecting the funds to delivering them to China. Tasi Sherpa, the ward president of Narayan's village i.e. Bhotekoshi rural municipality-4, said that Narayan has been in Kathmandu for eight to ten years and said that he heard that he is engaged in land business in Kathmandu.
