Rajawadi demolition: 18 still in hospital, 13 undergoing surgery

24-year-old Dinesh Kumar Khatri (Navaraj) was aware that there was a royalist demonstration at Tinkune on Friday, but he had no interest in the movement. In the evening, sister Revika Khatri (uncle's daughter) got a call. 22-year-old Revika worked as an accountant at a food store in Narefant. They came to Kathmandu to study from Beltar Satdhare, Chaudandigarhi Municipality-6, Udaipur. Revika was doing this work to earn her education expenses.

"My sister's room was in Gwarko, she stopped in the middle of the road after the car did not run due to Rajawadi's demonstration on Friday. After the clash between the police and the protestors, my sister, who was afraid to go to the room, called me to come to my room, Dinesh said, "My room is in the alley behind the SOS school in Koteshwar. It was five o'clock, my sister was scared and came through the sky bridge of Koteshwar. Suddenly the sister fell.'

According to Dinesh, blood started flowing from the thigh of his sister's right leg. Later I found out that there were bullets in his right leg and my left thigh. The same bullet that pierced our thigh also punctured the nearby shutter,' he added, 'My sister's condition is serious.' He was preparing to go to Australia for studies this month. After graduating in Nepal, he is going to Sydney for Master and Professional Accounting.

According to Dinesh, although some protesters were seen on the road, there was no large crowd. At that time, the protesters were vandalizing and looting the Bhatbhateni Super Market near where the Khatri siblings were shot. Revika is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the civil hospital. "His leg had to be operated twice," said sister Anita, who was taking care of her sister at the hospital. Later, after the vein did not work, it was connected to the vein of the left leg by re-operation.'

After the main vein in the thigh is ruptured, it is surgically connected by bringing a vein from the other thigh (femoral artery repair with vascular graft). The doctor involved in the treatment said that due to the serious damage to the thigh muscles, additional surgery including plastic surgery is required. Doctors have informed that after Revika was taken out of the ventilator on Monday morning, although her condition is stable, she is not completely free from anxiety.

Revika was currently preparing for the upcoming BBA third semester exams. "She used to say that she would get a job in a government bank," Anita said.

What will happen to his life? What will the future hold? May this state guarantee the service facilities, compensation and future that my daughter will get.

The economic condition of the Khatri family is normal. Their family has a small milk dairy in the village. Anita and Revika's brother went to Japan as they could not afford the household expenses. The covid epidemic started less than a year ago. Earnings were not as expected. "Two years ago, we spent 7 lakhs on my father's lungs for water retention, but my mother uses medicine regularly," said Anita. Anita also works in a restaurant while studying. She said that she is also preparing to go to Japan because the financial situation at home is weak. My visa application date is on the 4th. I was thinking of going to Japan to run the family and pay off the debt,' said Anita, 'but now that my sister is in this situation, I can't think of anything. I am spending the money I have saved for visa and ticket for my sister's treatment. Relatives have also helped.'
