RPR MP Geeta Basnet is absconding in the co-operative fraud, but she has sent information to Parliament that she is undergoing medical treatment. Speaker Devraj Ghimire announced on Tuesday that MP Basnet was absent due to medical treatment.
Speaker Ghimire informed that MP Basnet was absent from 27 meetings held from January 18th to March 19th, 2081. Today's meeting of the House of Representatives also passed the notice that Basnet was absent from Parliament along with other MPs. MP Basnet has also understood the salary in the meantime.
MP Basnet, who was involved in Nawalparasi's Chithope, Chitwan's Sunrise and Bardia's Namaste co-operative fraud, was on the run since the Parliament session did not start.
An arrest warrant was issued against MP Basnet on 14 Baisakh. As the co-operative's money was taken to a resort where Basnet was operated and misused, the court issued an arrest warrant to him as per the request of the police. After the co-operative's savings were embezzled, RPP demanded the government to investigate MP Basnet.
While searching for the account of embezzlement of 165 million 58 lakhs of 2 thousand 300 savers in Nawalparasi, it was discovered that 96 lakhs was invested in the resort of Bardia, where Basnet operates.
Similarly, Chitwan's Sunrise Cooperative has invested around 9 crores in the name of Rimal, Dhundiraj Gautam and Krishna Gyawali in the resort. In the same way, 2.5 million was withdrawn from Namaste Cooperative in Bardia in the name of Sanjeev Kumar Mahato and invested in the resort.
