Interrupting the Prime Minister while he is speaking in Parliament is against the rules: Chief Whip Bertaula

Mahesh Bertaula, the chief whip of the ruling party CPN-UML, said that the obstruction by the opposition while the Prime Minister was speaking in Parliament was against the constitution and the law.

He objected saying that there is a provision in the rules that the Prime Minister or any member cannot be interrupted by another MP when he is speaking with the permission of the speaker.

When Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was addressing the meeting of the House of Representatives, RPP MPs stood up and interrupted, while Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi objected to the Prime Minister's speech.

Chief Whip Bertaula claimed that the current constitution does not allow anyone to kill and rob anyone. "The Constitution has given democratic rights". It has given the right to hold a peaceful protest,' he said, 'but no one has been given the right to attack or loot anyone. No one has the right to go to the media and start arson and throw stones.'

He said that those who act against the constitution should be punished.
