Indrasarovar rural municipality-3 of Makwanpur, 3 children have died after drowning in Cisneri river. 3 people, two children who came from Kavre and came to their uncle's house in Sisneri and a child from Sisneri Dodare, drowned while swimming in the river behind Sisneri market.
Chief Police Inspector Lalita Dhakal of Bhimphedi District Police Office informed that they drowned at around 4:30 pm on Monday.
Sushant Acharya, 14-year-old son of Shyam Bahadur Acharya of Indrasarovar-3 Sisneri Dodare, 14-year-old Pramesh Ghorasaini and 11-year-old Pramadh Ghorasaini of Kavre's Phulbari Dapcha house have been informed by Makwanpur district police office. Police said that Ghorasaini is a brother and Acharya is the son of his maternal uncle. They had gone to swim in the frozen water of the Cisneri river from their house.
Last October when the Kulekhani Reservoir's dam was opened and water was released, the flood in Sisneri river caused the rocks to melt. The Ghorasaini brothers who came to their maternal uncle's house during the holiday died along with their maternal uncle's son.
Devakrishna Pudasaini, chairman of Indrasarovar Rural Municipality, said that many people are losing their lives due to the damaged water path and river of Kulekhani Dam. Chief Superintendent of Police of District Police Office Makwanpur Vishwaraj Khadka said that the bodies of the dead children were sent to Patan Hospital for post-mortem.
