Various organizations have condemned the incidents of killing of journalists, stone pelting, arson and looting of media houses, business complexes, private houses during Rajawadi's demonstration in Tinkune area on Friday. They stated that the royalists have started violent activities by abusing the rights given by the constitution.
The Federation of Journalists has said that it has attracted serious attention if the protestors vandalized and set fire to the media house. The Federation has condemned the death of Avenues TV journalist Suresh Rajak, the stone pelting and arson of the offices of Kantipur TV and Annapurna Post. "Kimarth will not accept the act of killing journalists, terrorizing and terrorizing the press in the name of movement," said the statement issued by the general secretary of the Federation, Ram Prasad Dahal. The Federation demands that those involved in such acts be brought to justice immediately.
The Federation has called attention of the concerned parties not to repeat anti-democracy and anti-press activities, asking them to compensate the media, to be serious about the safety of media houses and media workers. The federation has protested across the country on Saturday, demanding action against those involved in the incident. In the protest meeting at Maitighar, acting president of the federation Deepak Acharya, former president Taranath Dahal, president of Press Chautari Ganesh Pandey, president of Reporters Club Rishi Dhamala and others demanded that the culprits be brought to justice.
A task force has been formed under the coordination of Federation Vice President Umid Bagchand to study the issues of killing of journalists and attacks on media houses. The Federation has called on journalists to wear a black belt on Sunday to protest the incident.
Parliamentary Affairs Journalist Society has also condemned the killing of journalist Rajak, attack on journalist Dinesh Gautam for taking pictures, attack on office of Kantipur TV and Annapurna Post and damage to vehicle of Himalaya TV. The Photojournalist Club, a national group of photojournalists, has condemned the incident on Friday.
Federation of Commerce and Industry and Confederation of Industry have also condemned the incident. The federation said in a statement, "The violent demonstrations, as well as looting, arson and attacks on personal property are condemnable. The federation strongly condemns and condemns such incidents.'
Similarly, the Confederation has demanded that those involved in the incident be brought to justice. "Activities like vandalism and looting are always reprehensible," the federation said in a statement. The Confederation demands to secure the right to trade, business and profession safely. Federation of Nepal Industry and Business has also commented that Friday's incident is a malicious attempt to make the state itself fail by making the industrialists and the people financially weak.
The Nepal Bar Association has also objected to the incident. The bar said the state and protest organizers should be held responsible for damage to private property. The Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations expressed grief over the violence, looting and damage to public property by the royalists and demanded a ban on such activities.
In a statement issued on Saturday by 12 Dalit associations/organizations of the United Political Dalit Sangharsh Committee, it is said that attention has been drawn to the chaotic and regressive activities seen in favor of the monarchy. "We condemn the vandalism and arson attempt at the media house during the demonstration by anti-democratic monarchists," the statement said. The society has demanded that the main culprits of this incident be prosecuted.
