20-year-old Umesh Giri of Phakphokthum rural municipality-3 Amchok (Salleri) of Ilam went to police station Amchok with a petition on March 1. In his petition, it was written that since his 19-year-old wife Bimala Kattel is missing, search should be done. The police formed a special team to search for Bimala after making a general inquiry with Umesh, who came with a missing complaint of his pregnant wife.
While searching, the police found the dead body at a distance of an hour and a half from the house at 1 am on March 15th. Bimala's body was found buried in a pit about 5 feet deep in the middle of a dirt road in Golai (Dharnekhop). When the police reached the conclusion of the investigation about who killed him, they were shocked. District Police Ilam Chief SP Eknarayan Koirala said, "There is no one else to bury the pregnant Bimala but her husband Umesh Giri." At that time, after he punched, fought and strangled him to death, it was found in the investigation that the excavator dug a hole and buried him. On Chait 12, the police arrested Umesh and started the investigation. SP Koirala said, "During the interrogation, after he said that he had killed himself and buried him in the middle of the road, the body was found when he was taken along and dug up."
After Bimala's body was found, the District Police Office has formed a special team under the leadership of Inspector Ramesh Rai and is investigating the incident. SP Koirala said, 'In the investigation so far, it has been seen that extra-marital affair was the main reason for the fight.' The police have sent Bimala's body to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for post-mortem.
