Suresh was injured while reporting during the protest against MCC, this time he lost his life due to arson during the protest of Rajawadi.
In the morning, when he was leaving his house in Chandragiri for reporting, a feast was being prepared at the house of journalist Suresh Rajak. He told Milo Dai Dinesh, "I will come early today." You also come early.'
Among the three brothers, Suresh and Dinesh had been living in their new house Chandragiri for three months. Both Dinesh and Suresh used to do journalism. On that day, they invited the elder brother and relatives to a feast and went out to report the demonstration of the two royalists. The presence of relatives in the house was increasing.
'The brother who left saying he would come soon never came back,' says brother Dinesh Bhakkani.
On Friday, the royalists set fire to a building in a demonstration focused on Thinkune of Kathmandu. Suresh, a photojournalist of Avenues Television, was shooting the same scene. He died in the fire.
Born in 2047, Suresh studied up to SLC. Before coming to journalism, he was in Malaysia during foreign employment. Mother passed away while my brother was there and he came back to Nepal. After that, he started journalism without going abroad, says Dinesh.
At 10 o'clock on Friday, Suresh along with his colleague Anil Rayamazhi left the Avenues office for reporting. ``We ate outside . We parked the bike in a college in Tinkunne and went to the field,' says Anil.
According to him, when Suresh and Anil reached there, the royalist protestors were just gathering. After reporting for 30 minutes, they went inside the alley next to the fire building to drink tea with their friends. It was reported that the police fired tear gas while the protestors were demonstrating . "Departing from the street, the protestors were trying to throw stones because the police threw tear gas from above. After we got out on the street, we were stung by tear gas . Dai handed over the camera to me to join the police team. And went ahead . "Dai did it live from the mobile phone," says Anil, "After a while, Dai and I met again at the previous tea shop." They reached the front of the building taking pictures. Suddenly the crowd swelled and became excited . The protestors broke the key of the shutter to enter the building and started entering. After that, Dae Bum handed me over and entered Swattai . I couldn't say anything . My brother was sitting on the second floor watching the film. Stone pelting was going on . At that time, the protestors were saying that they should be set on fire,' says Anil, 'they were sweeping the goods from above. Tear gas was fired again. I was also on one side . The protestors dispersed. According to
Anil, the protestors saw that they were about to light a fire. When he saw that Suresh was on the third floor recording the scene while the fire was burning, he complained, Suresh did not see it. Called, did not pick up . Then I called MCR. There was a commotion . People who went up started to fall . I looked to see if my brother would come but he didn't. There was no contact,' says Anil.
Anil panicked and went to the police facing the stone. But Anil complains that the police did not listen to his plea. After 10 minutes, the fire engine came, but the glass of the fire engine broke due to the stones thrown by the protesters. Couldn't put out the fire . After that, I asked the police. They did not listen to pleas again. When they tried to call the fire brigade, they refused, saying that they would be stoned,' says Anil, 'people are missing inside, but the police administration gave such a response. I knelt down and started carrying the protestors and the police.' After the
, the fire brigade came and extinguished the fire. Three policemen of the armed police went . They said to be sure that no one was hurt. After that, we searched for Dai in various places including the hospital, but we did not find him. The fire started burning again in the building. Later, after extinguishing the fire, when he went upstairs, he found the burnt body of his brother,' he said.
Suresh's brother Dinesh found out after his brother was trapped inside the building while reporting. "He was killed in a planned manner." could have been saved . But the negligence of the police led to the loss of life," says Dinesh.
Suresh's family has demanded to declare him a martyr, investigate the truth and take action against the culprits and compensation.
Fearless journalist
According to colleagues and former colleagues of Suresh, he was fearless and honest. Suresh started journalism 7 years ago from Mountain Television . "At that time, we trained him in the beginning," says Suresh's former colleague DB Magar, who worked together in Mountain Television, "since then he was stubborn." He preferred to take risks and work. According to
DB, Suresh was also injured while reporting during the agitation against MCC. After working in Mountain for a few months, he went to Avenues Television .
According to Dai Dinesh, he was always honest and conscientious in his work. He always reached before office hours. Never known to take leave from work . He was very willing to take risks,' says Dinesh.
Suresh got married 8 years ago. Dinesh, who is hurting after losing his brother, is worried about how to handle himself and his family. Bhakkanithi says, 'How can I explain my mind at this time?'
