The Federation of Nepalese Journalists has protested across the country demanding action against those involved in the murder of journalist Suresh Rajak, who was killed during a demonstration by supporters of the monarchy on Friday. On the eve of the 71st foundation day of the Federation, the Federation, which turned the anniversary into a protest meeting after the murder of journalist Rajak, held a protest and meeting at Maitighar on Saturday morning.

The state committee and all 77 district branches of the federation have also demonstrated against the killing of journalist Rajak and the attack on journalists and media houses.

At the protest meeting in Maitighar, the Acting President of the Federation, Deepak Acharya, said that journalist Rajak, who was working in reporting, was murdered by conspiracy and demanded the government to investigate the truth of the incident and bring the culprits to justice.

He also demanded compensation for journalist Rajak's family. Speaking at the protest meeting, former president of the Federation Taranath Dahal, president of Press Chautari Ganesh Pandey, president of Reporters Club Rishi Dhamala and others said that it is sad to have journalists in the workplace even in the republic and demanded that the culprits be brought to justice.

General Secretary of the Federation Ram Prasad Dahal demanded from the government to provide justice to the murdered journalist Rajak along with the treatment, relief and compensation of the injured journalists and to guarantee the physical security of the journalists. He also announced that if these demands are not met, the federation will be forced to engage in continuous street struggle.

In Friday's demonstration, angry protesters pelted stones at the office of Kantipur Television and Annapurna Post and physically attacked journalist Dinesh Gautam on the pretext of taking a photo.
