A team of the National Human Rights Commission, which went to monitor the demonstration of the royalists, was violently attacked. Human rights officer Khimanand Basyal was injured in the attack. Commissioner Lilly Thapa and his driver were also assaulted.

"We reached Tinkune and were monitoring the demonstration site, suddenly a crowd came and started fighting. At that time, it was impossible to see the eyes due to the tear gas fired by the police," said Commissioner Thapa, the leader of the monitoring team. As the commission team did not say anything despite teargas, a group of royalists pelted, punched and slapped them. "They started beating us randomly, calling us dollars, I was hearing some people telling us not to beat the human rights activists, that's when I was hit on the head," says Basyal, a human rights officer, "They ran away from them and reached the nearby police, but stopped beating them."

The National Human Rights Commission has criticized the protestors for being violent. "Violent activity cannot be accepted under any pretext," the commission said, "The commission urges the government to take legal action against anyone involved in violence."

"They stopped the car and burnt it, I was saved because I escaped from that chaotic crowd," Pariyar said, "The royalists have ended their justification through this violent and chaotic demonstration."
