Opposition parties blocked the meeting of the National Assembly in protest against the removal of Kulman Ghising as the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority. Ghising, who has four months remaining in his tenure, was dismissed by the Cabinet meeting on Monday.

In the meeting of the National Assembly on Wednesday, the opposition parties protested saying that the proceedings of the House cannot proceed until the government's response. Then Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal adjourned to sit at 12:30 on Thursday.

The opposition to the dismissal of Ghising was protested in the National Assembly by the main opposition parties, Maoists, United Socialists and others.

The meeting of the National Assembly, which started at 1:15 PM today, was interrupted by MPs from the opposition party. The meeting, which was adjourned for 15 minutes at that time, was rescheduled for 3:45.

As the meeting could not be held at that time, it was adjourned till Thursday.
