In Aurhi rural municipality-5, legal action is being taken against village president Shivji Yadav, former ward president Dilip Yadav and organizer Bajrangi Baba, who used dozers in the houses of Dalits in the name of Maha Yagya. As the threats escalated, the terrified victims were forced to go into hiding.

Besides destroying the local Deepak Malik's house by using a dozer, the mayor Shivji and former ward president Dilip, who were among those who led the demolition saying that the soil of the place is 'unholy', are in police custody after being arrested, while the organizer Baba is absconding. Shivji and Dilip, who were arrested last Friday, are being investigated for crimes related to caste discrimination and untouchability. If found guilty of the said crime, there is a legal provision of imprisonment from 3 months to 3 years and a fine of 50,000 to 2 lakh rupees.

The Siraha District Court on Sunday has given them five days for investigation by keeping them in custody for the first time. On Saturday, the victim, Malik, filed a complaint against the District Police, Sirahama Rural Municipality Chairman, former Ward Chairman and Bajrangi Baba. The police claimed that Baba is being searched for and will be arrested soon.

Municipal President Yadav affiliated JSP Nepal has come under their protection. Jaspa Nepal has submitted a memorandum to the district administration on Sunday demanding the release of Yadav from prison. The team led by Ashok Kumar Yadav, District President of Jaspa Nepal and Arnama Rural Municipality Chairman, submitted the memorandum to Assistant Chief District Officer Chetraj Baral.

It is the political party that should take the initiative to give justice to the victims and punish the culprits. But after being criticized for protecting the rural village president who abused Dalits by calling them untouchables instead of helping them to take legal action, party central president Upendra Yadav has said that he is always committed to the rights of oppressed castes. Chairman Yadav issued a statement on Monday through his private secretary Mahesh Chaurasia and mentioned that social harmony and tolerance should not be destroyed for temporary gains, character assassination of individuals and organizations and hatred should not be spread in the society. The family of the

victim has been met by the victim's relatives and has started to induce and pressure them for reconciliation. After the arrest was taken to the court on Sunday to extend the term of the arrested person, Rukesh, son of rural municipality chairman Yadav, son-in-law Indradev Yadav and other close people met Deepak and asked him to change his statement by giving him a fixed numbered land, building a concrete house, providing water and electricity. They assured that they will provide the written paper.

But Deepak has said that he did not say anything and returned from the siege of the torturers. Unable to bear the pressure of the victim's relatives, Deepak said that he hid with his friends in a village in the district. "We are the victims, whether the state gives justice or not, whether it gives us a house or not, we have left everything to the state," he said. Malik's house was near the Mandpan which was being built for the Maha Yajna which was to be held from Chait 17. The house of the Dalit family, which has been living there for 30 years, was built 5 years ago under the Janata Awas program.

Local resident and former MP Sureshchandra Das says that the efforts being made to make the victims settle is objectionable. He said that it is the state's responsibility to protect and support the victims at such a time. Siraha Police Chief SP Ramesh Pandit stated that the case of the incident has been registered and has gone through the legal process and asserted that the investigation will not be affected by external influences. After the news about the

incident is published, there is a demand for action against the culprits. The members of the House of Representatives of the Union and the MPs of the Madhesh State Assembly objected to the incident and demanded action against the culprits along with a parliamentary inquiry. Various organizations have also condemned the incident and demanded that action should be taken against those who committed atrocities on Dalits.

organizer Bajrangi Baba, rural municipality chairman Yadav and former ward president Yadav reached the victim Malik's hut on Thursday and threatened and forcibly handed over the document, in which it is mentioned that he willingly let his house be demolished. They even threatened not to say anything more and said it would not be right.

After the news about the incident was published, they went to Malik's hut on Thursday morning and after forcing the documents, Malik's family was taken to the government building next to the Maha Yajna site and the chairman of the rural municipality Yadav, Bajrangi Baba and the former ward president Yadav and others even made them speak in a video saying that they 'moved there willingly'. Then they suddenly became 'out of touch'. Bajrangi Baba is still absconding after the police arrested Yadav Dwaya on the following day after the pressure increased from all sides for forcing the documents to be submitted by threats.

The Malik family has been moved 500 meters away to a secluded terrace by the river. Where there is no water facility, no electricity. The victim Deepak and his wife Anita Malik work as sanitation workers in the rural municipality. But they have not been able to go to work.
