There are challenges in water management, hygiene and accessibility in Nepal: Minister Yadav

Water Minister Pradeep Yadav has said that the government is committed to making Nepal a successful model country for water management. He said that although Nepal is a country rich in natural water resources, there are still challenges in water management, hygiene and accessibility.

On the occasion of the World Drinking Water Day, Minister Yadav promised that effective policies and programs will be arranged in the budget through a strategic plan on drinking water management.

'Nepal is a country rich in natural water resources, but there are still challenges in water management, hygiene and accessibility. The World Water Day, which has been celebrated every year on March 22 since 1993, has provided an opportunity to reiterate the global commitment to ensure clean water, he said, adding that government policies and programs are being implemented by integrating them with scientific and innovation-era solutions. The government will give priority to effective policy programs to ensure equal access to water resources and proper use technology transfer and sanitation. The government's strategy is to cooperate with the private sector, non-governmental organizations and development partners to ensure safe drinking water and sanitation.'

Yadav said that the next budget of the government will be prepared after discussing with all stakeholders. How to take a leap in the water supply sector and provide healthy and pure drinking water to the citizens? He said that he will proceed after discussing with all the experts and stakeholders.

Minister Yadav said that it is necessary to protect glaciers as the effects of climate change have affected drinking water, agriculture, and hydropower. He said that he is determined to ensure clean drinking water and sanitation according to the fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution.
