Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has telephoned the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, asking him to make diplomatic efforts for the safe release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who was held hostage by the Palestinian group.
Prime Minister Oli telephoned Erdogan on Thursday afternoon and asked him to take initiative for the release of Bipin. In response, the Prime Minister's Secretariat said that the President of Turkey has taken this matter seriously and will take the necessary steps and inform Bipin's family and Nepali society about it.
Prime Minister Oli had a telephone conversation with the President of Egypt on February 27 to initiate the release of Joshi, who was taken hostage by Hamas on October 7, 2023 during the attack on Israel. In the
conversation, President Recep reminded about the invitation given to Prime Minister Oli to participate in the conference on diplomacy to be held in Turkey in April. During that time, the two leaders had a conversation about cooperation in the fields of economy and science and technology.
