Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the land including Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani will be resolved through diplomatic means with India.
Speaking during the question and answer program with the parliamentarians at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, Prime Minister Oli said that the problem could not be resolved because India refused to understand the report of the Enlightened Persons Group (EPG) jointly formed by Nepal and India. He said that before 1962, Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura were included in the map of Nepal, then how did these areas disappear? raised the question.
Prime Minister Oli added, 'Diplomatic dialogue and negotiations are needed to solve the problem forever so that the border dispute related to India is not a problem for anyone.' He said that before 1962, our map was also according to the same and said that the territory was under the jurisdiction of Nepal. He said, 'The map as it is now was the same before. After that, why was the map of Nepal changed, who changed it? Everyone knows the answer. This problem is solved through diplomatic negotiations.'
He informed that the EPG was formed with the consent of the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Indian counterpart Narendra Modi to strengthen bilateral relations and to recommend matters up to treaties and agreements. However, he said that although the EPG held 9 meetings and agreed on important points including the revision of the Nepal-India Treaty of 1950, even after six years, the Indian side is reluctant to understand the report.
After Nepal published a new political and administrative map including Lipulek, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani regions, India did not accept the map.
