After being elected as an independent candidate in the Pulchok campus in the elections of the Independent Students' Union, Shrestha himself is a candidate. While many are trying to understand the meaning of his victory, some want to know how he managed to defeat the fraternal organizations of mainstream parties.

We asked him the same thing in a video chat from Kantipur. He said that he got the vote because he worked in favor of the students as a member of Swaviyu for the last two years. He said, "two main things play a role in selecting any person". What is his opinion? What is his background? That is important. Students should be independent and self-sufficient.' He said that if there is a need for political change, he should be an independent candidate and added, 'My candidacy has been approved.' Therefore, he said that he got the vote because the students understand what a difference it will make in the educational environment if it wins. He commented that although representatives of student organizations were elected in the campus in the past, they did not belong to the students. He said, 'They are becoming party leaders rather than student leaders.'

He exchanged ideas with Kantipur about the role of student organizations, the justification of student organizations as sister organizations of the party and the need for student politics. Watch the full video to know about his background, understanding of politics and future plans.
