Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has informed that the government is conducting various programs with hospitals and health institutions at the federal, provincial and local levels to improve maternal and child health.
Speaking in a direct question and answer program with the Prime Minister at today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Oli informed that a feasibility study is being conducted in collaboration with the Government of Nepal, the International Cooperation Mission of Thailand and UNFPA Nepal to build a facility-equipped birthing hospital in Lumbini Province.
He said, 'Considering the immense religious and tourist potential of the Lumbini area, the construction works are being carried out according to the Lumbini master plan approved in 1978. For the sustainable operation of Gautam Budh International Airport, the government has made an action plan in discussion with the related agencies and it is being implemented.
Prime Minister Oli said, 'Concession and incentive programs such as discounts on passenger service fees, discounts on ground handling, landing, parking and navigation fees have been conducted for the airport.'
Currently, Al Jazeera, Fly Dubai, Air Asia and Nepal Airlines are operating international flights from the airport. In addition, labor and employment office Butwal has also started providing labor permits and arrangements have been made to provide immigration, currency exchange, and banking services at the airport.
Prime Minister Oli also informed that the minimum support price has been set for rice, wheat and sugarcane crops to encourage agricultural production and homework is being done to advance the agricultural modernization project.
He said, 'The government has made various efforts to control consumption-oriented imports, low export capacity and high trade deficit, resulting in increased exports and improvement in the export-import ratio.'
Prime Minister Oli informed that an integrated river management study is being conducted with the technical support of the Japanese government to avoid the damages caused by floods in the Keshalia River, Budikhola, Singia and Lohandra rivers in Morang and Sunsari.
He added, 'After the study, the management work of those rivers will be carried forward, as well as the rescue work of the disaster-affected areas in the Koshi and Bakraha River Management Project.'
Prime Minister Oli informed that the ministries are coordinating with the provincial government and local level to include plans in the budget of the next financial year based on the needs and demands of each constituency.
