The Human Rights Commission has started an investigation into the demolition of a Dalit's house in the name of Maha Yagya in Aurhi Rural Municipality-5 of Siraha. The commission's Janakpur-based Madhesh office has started investigating the incident.
The commission issued a statement on Thursday saying that a team has gone to the spot to monitor and investigate the incident. Likewise, the commission has written to the district police office, Sirha and other rural municipality offices to get necessary information about the incident.
Village chairman Shivji Yadav, organizer Bajrangi Baba and pre-ward president Dilip Yadav demolished the house of local Deepak Mallik, who has been living there for 30 years, with the village bulldozer.
The Mallik family, who were evicted from there for being 'untouchable', are now living in a temporary tent on the land of the community school in the village.
