Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has said that the construction of permanent housing damaged by the earthquake in western Nepal has progressed rapidly. He said that the government is taking responsibility for the post-disaster reconstruction work.

Talking to mediapersons after the meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority's working committee held at Singhdarbar on Thursday, the Home Minister said that a detailed report on the damage caused by the earthquake in Doti, Bajhang and Jajarkot has been prepared and the construction of permanent housing has started. He said that the work of getting subsidy from the central government for reconstruction has also started.

Due to the incessant rains of last Ashwin month, Bagmati, Koshi province and other places were damaged by floods, landslides and inundation, and for that, it was decided to proceed with the DDA work immediately and to move forward with DDA by making private residences permanent where they should be made permanent and temporary where they should be made temporary. 

He said, 'The work that was stopped for one and a half to two years after the earthquake has now progressed. It was reviewed. Due to the incessant rains of last Ashwin month, especially Bagmati, Koshi province and other places were damaged by floods, landslides and inundation, for that the government is ready to immediately advance the work of DDA and increase the reconstruction work.

The Home Minister said that the government is moving forward to be prepared for all kinds of risks that may arise from disasters in the coming days.
